Ribera Del Duero Wine
In the 70s, Ribera del Duero was barely recognised as a wine region, only receiving its official status in 1982. Today Ribera del Duero rivals Rioja as the most important red wine region in Spain. This is thanks to the ground breaking work of producers like Vega Sicilia and Pesquera, who helped drive forward the new region’s reputation for incredibly high quality red wines made using Tempranillo. The river that passes through this region is the same river Douro that passes through the port wine-making region of Portugal.
