From vineyards adjacent to Vega Sicilia. "Predominantly Tempranillo with dollops of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, aged for 12 months in seasoned French oak. Opaque purple in colour, this offers up a brooding bouquet of earthy minerality, Asian spices, incense and assorted black fruits. Velvety textured, sweetly fruited, layerd, relatively forward and lengthy, this seamless effort admirably reveals the strengths of the great 2009 vintage and is a superb value wine to boot." Finca Villacreces was described by Robert Parker as “the hidden jewel of Ribera del Duero”. The estate is based at the heart of the Ribera del Duero DO, forming part of the ‘golden mile’ along with its immediate neighbour Vega Sicilia to the west, Pingus and other such high-profile estates.
